Felsted School have received a double boost after their under-18 girls were crowned East of England Schools Hockey Tournament champions and captain Loren Sherer was selected for England.
Following strong wins in the pool rounds against Royal Hospital School, Hills Road Cambridge and Kesteven Grantham, the team met Greshams in the semi-finals.
Sherer secured two of the three goals in their 3-0 victory that led them to the finals against Kings, Canterbury.
A tight game followed, with Loren scoring a straight goal from a short corner just before half-time. Defensive play in the second half resulted in a 1-0 win, and the East of England title.
Sarah Hookway, Head of Girls Sport at Felsted School, said: "The girls played as a mature and experienced team and I am really proud of them.
"They will go on to play in the National Finals for the third year running in February, of which they have been runners-up for the past two years."
Meanwhile Loren, 18, has been selected for the England under-18 squad.
She has been an Essex and East of England player for a number of years and will be attending a training camp at Bisham Abbey in December in preparation for a game against Ireland in the New Year.
