Defiant residents packed into a meeting vowing to fight plans they claim will destroy their homes.
Almost 200 people turned out to show their opposition to Tendring Council's proposals to site a 27-hectare industrial area in the rural sites around Frating.
A public meeting was held at Great Bromley village hall to give residents and parish councillors from surrounding villages a chance to air their views after the proposal reappeared on the latest draft of the Local Plan, Tendring Council's blueprint for the district.
According to Sarah Candy, a Tendring and Essex county councillor, who helped chair the meeting, they were all against the idea.
"They were all speaking with one voice against the industrial land going where it is proposed," she said.
"There was a huge response and standing room only in the big hall.
"They don't think it's the right place for industrial land.
"There are fears of noise pollution and light pollution because of all the car journeys that would be needed for people to get to it because it is in middle of the countryside."
