COUNCILLORS have refused to agree a multimillion pound scheme to rejuvenate Southend seafront.
Plans for the Marine Plaza development, including a casino, a four star hotel, 126 homes, bars, restaurants and a night club, were heard by the development control committee.
The plans on the former Dizzyland site in Marine Parade also include a "landmark" 16 storey tower, and would create 1,000 jobs.
Councillors were yesterday recommended to agree the development in principle, but they chose to defer the decision to a meeting of the full council.
