STAFF and pupils at a Thurrock primary school have been celebrating winning a place in the top 100 schools in the country that have shown sustained improvement over the past four years.
In a table drawn up to mark the publication of Key Stage 2 results across the country Chafford Hundred Primary school is placed 93rd in terms of continued improved performance.
Mrs Lisa Fergus, headteacher at Chafford Hundred Campus Primary School, said: "I am extremely proud of the achievements of all our pupils and would like to send special congratulations to our Year 6 pupils from the last academic year and their teacher Mrs Caroline Clarke for working so hard to achieve such fantastic results.
"At CHC Primary we are committed to ensuring that we provide the best possible education for all our pupils.
"Staff, governors, parents and pupils all play a vital role in ensuring our children leave school having achieved their full potential.
"All pupils are involved in their own target-setting and in each class we use target-boards for pupils to visualise their next steps of learning. These measures and a strong emphasis on 'what helps us to learn' means our children are clear about what they are doing and what they need to do in order to achieve even greater things."
Councillor Anne Cheale, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: "I would like to personally congratulate Mrs Fergus and the whole team at Chafford Campus Primary -- teachers, children, governors and parents.
"This news is absolutely excellent and something for everyone to be very proud of. It is also something for every school in Thurrock to aspire to."
