Maldon and South Chelmsford Primary Care Trust (PCT) joined forces with garden designer David Fountain and students from the Plume School in Fambridge Road, Maldon, to construct the garden at St Peter's Hospital.
And together with Fiona Mildren from Blackwater Plants they put their horticultural prowess to good use by making a Japanese style Sora Wi Ji garden.
Paul McNeill, the PCT's healthy living centre activities co-ordinator, said the garden will be an extra special alternative to stuffy waiting rooms.
"It took about a year to get it all done but it was well worth it," she said.
