Four members of Dragon Martial Arts School travelled to Coventry to compete in the BCCMA (British Council for Chinese Martial Arts) Northern Championships.
The event was well attended, with everyone out to perform to the best of their ability. The first event of the day was the weapons forms.
Two of the Dragon team entered the traditional long-range weapons category.
After some impressive displays, Richard Poots was awarded the silver medal for his battle axe with spear routine and Sara Healy gained a bronze with her spinning spear.
Next up was the Qingda (semi-contact sparring) events.
Each of the four DMAS competitors had a number of tough fights but all came away with medals.
In the men's event, Martyn Morrisson gained silver in the heavyweights, Poots silver in the middleweight and Paul Sumner was awarded bronze in the lightweight division. Healy gained silver in the ladies' event.
The final events of the day were the Tui Shou (full contact Chinese wrestling).
The Dragon team put in some exceptional performances which resulted in Morrisson and Sumner winning gold medals in their respective weight categories.
Healy narrowly missed out in the final and was awarded the silver medal.
The DMAS team of four came home with two gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
