GARDENING enthusiasts who keep their yards in tip-top shape have been rewarded for their efforts following a competition.
The Fryerns and Craylands community panel organised and judged the contest for best front and container gardens, which was held this summer. At a meeting of the panel at the United Reformed Church, Honeypot Lane, the winners were presented with their prizes, which were vouchers for the DIY store Homebase.
Nicola Mason, from Church Road, won the award for best container gardens, whilst Barbara Dean, of Honeypot Lane, took first prize for front garden.
Anne Collins, from Hereford Walk, came in second.
Aniekan Umoren Basildon Council's executive director for housing and customer contact presented the prizes.
