Top marks! There was plenty to celebrate for pupils and staff at primary schools right across Tendring as their efforts were recognised in the latest Government performance tables released today.

They generally fared well against their counterparts in north Essex and many showed a great improvement on last year's national curriculum key stage two results for 11-year-olds.
There was, however, disappointment for a few who slipped down the ladder compared to 2004.
It was certainly business as usual at Tendring Primary School, which was the highest placed of all those across the district and it also came in the top five in north Essex for its value added measure.
Other high fliers included St Andrew's Primary School at Weeley, Frinton Primary, Holland Park, St Joseph's Roman Catholic at Dovercourt, Lawford Church of England, All Saints at Great Oakley and Great Bentley primary schools.
But Peter Brackley, head at Tendring Primary School, said he still felt the tables were unhelpful and could not understand why the Government persisted with them.
