Colchester United made it success number seven in a row with a gritty show at Shrewsbury Town.
Where last week Us fans marvelled at their team's attacking flair in the 5-0 win at home to Gillingham, this time round it was the determined attitude of their side that stood out as they forged their way into the third round.
In-form strikers Jamie Cureton and Chris Iwelumo both found the net as Phil Parkinsons charges rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in on a heavy surface at Gay Meadow that needed two inspections before being given the green light.
The Us were on their toes straight away in the game as Shrewsbury pushed forward but Ben Smith failed to control his first-time effort and sent it flying over the bar.
A minute later the U's were able to have their first taste of an opportunity when two promising youngsters tested each other.
