A CANCER charity has hit out at lazy residents who are costing them vital funds by dumping rubbish in their bins.
For the past 18 months the Cancer Research shop in Billericay High Street has forked out hundreds of pounds to Basildon Council for extra rubbish collections because locals use their bins as a tip.
Shop Manager Lynn Smith, 52, said each morning shop staff find everything from garden rubbish to dog mess in the bins at the back of the shop.
The charity, as well as having to pay for extra collections, has also had to pay for several sets of locks on the bins to be replaced, after they are continually prized open at night-times by people searching for goods.
