Parts of the Ipswich crowd may not have been, but the players and management were celebrating the point they earned against Wolves.

There were a few boos at the end of a rather uninspiring game as the hosts remained stuck in the tangle of teams in the mid-table area of the Coca-Cola Championship.

The problem is, though, that the Town faithful have been spoiled by the quality of football they have seen at Portman Road over the last 15 years and they expect their team to be at least challenging for a place in English football's top flight.

But they may have to realise that the current side is one that is recovering from losing some key personnel over the summer and has been further hampered by injuries this season.

Manager Joe Royle said after the game that the team is one in transition and asked the fans to be patient. Wolves are a big club with big ambitions of their own, but in past years it would have been Ipswich who had real aspirations of taking the three points in convincing fashion.

In truth it was the visitors who were markedly the better side on Saturday and that was why Royle and his men were cheered by the point they took. Wolves had Town camped in their own half at the end and only some wastefulness by the visitors kept it at 1-1.
