Highways chiefs are planning safety works on a bend in Brightlingsea after eight accidents in a fortnight.
Now for action - a Renault Megane comes to rest in trees after the eighth accident in two weeks in Church Road, Brightlingsea. Picture: TERRY WEEDEN (46394-2)
The slippery corner is between All Saints' Church and Thorrington in Church Road.
The road surface, which was replaced two years ago, is believed to have become silted up, meaning that in wet or icy conditions the grip is reduced.
Cars leaving the road end up in the garden of Roger Tabor's house.
"At the moment, the garden is looking like a war zone. So many trees have been felled by vehicles coming off the corner," he said.
"Just a bit further up the road, we've got a garage and if anyone leaves the road there and hits it, they will kill themselves."
The most recent accident happened on Friday lunchtime, when a Renault Megane cabriolet left the road. The woman driver was unhurt.
A spokesman for Essex County Council said safety measures, including chevron boards, reflector posts and slippery road signs, would be installed on the bend as "a matter of priority".
