Wayne Brown is calling on his team-mates to push on and make it a record- equalling eight victories in a row.
On the up - Jamie Cureton opened the scoring for the U's in their FA Cup second round triumph at Shrewsbury.
The Colchester United defender was in superb form as he put in a man-of-the-match performance to help his team make it seven wins as they beat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 at Gay Meadow in the FA Cup second round.
The result edges the U's to the club's record of eight consecutive wins that was set in the 1987-88 season.
In a blood and guts battle, the U's came out on top thanks to goals from Jamie Cureton and Chris Iwelumo. And Brown wants more.
He said: "We have made it seven now and we are going to keep this run going."
It was not plain sailing for the U's at the ground by the River Severn, though.
Coca-Cola League Two outfit Shrewsbury pushed them all the way and Brown admitted it was a tough battle on a pitch that required two inspections before the game was allowed to go ahead.
He said: "We had been well informed about what sort of team Shrewsbury were going to be and what sort of pitch it was going to be.
"The pitch was terrible but, in the end, a battling performance saw us through."
