THE FIGHT to stop a huge waste plant in south Essex is gaining pace.
Labour urged the Tory-led county council to "see sense" before it was too late and to do a U-turn on the decision to lease the land at Courtauld Road, Pitsea, for 30 years.
The move would effectively stop a waste treatment centre to deal with south Essex rubbish.
The county council's Labour group, led by Paul Kirkman, has stepped up opposition by calling in the decision which will be discussed at a special meeting next week.
