They entertained a large audience with a right old knees-up at Imperial Court, in Marine Parade West, for about an hour yesterday and went down a real treat.
Then they helped officially open the apartments, which were completed 16 months ago, by cutting a ribbon.
So far 47 out of 81 properties have been sold with 65 residents already in their new homes. House manager Angela Wyatt said she expected to have more than 100 residents once all the apartments were occupied.
The complex was built by retirement homes specialist McCarthy and Stone at a cost of £12 million. The site was previously Beaumont Hall, a former nursing home, which was closed down by Essex County Council and then knocked down to make way for the flats.
