Cake complaint - Linda Perrott-Thomas. Picture: NICK OBANK (46643-1)
Linda Perrott-Thomas was disgusted when she picked up three packets of madeira cakes from supermarket chain Netto and discovered they were all out of date, one by nearly two months.
She said one had a sell-by date of October 12 and was covered with mould, another was dated November 5, and the third was dated November 30.
The 43-year-old mother-of-three, of Cressing Road, Witham, claimed she had spoken to bosses at the Highfields Road store about food rotation before.
Supermarket bosses today said they took any reports like this very seriously and were looking into the matter.
