Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson heaped praise on his defence after they stood firm to seal a 1-0 victory over Hartlepool United.
In tricky and slippery conditions at Victoria Park the U's scored the only goal of the game through Jamie Cureton on 60 minutes.
However, the Monkey Hangers did their utmost to try and pull level and there was some brave and determined performances from the backline.
Parkinson was impressed and highlighted goalkeeper Aidan Davison's contribution.
He said: "I thought Aidan was exceptional.
"The wet conditions made the ball slippery but he kept hold of it and I don't think there was a cross or corner that went into the box that he didn't get hold of.
"The whole back four as well stood up for a man, and it was a superb performance for them."
