A long established Halstead heating and plumbing firm, run by the same family for forty years, has been sold to new owners setting up in business for the first time.

Originally established after the second world war, F Johnson & Co Heating (1983) Ltd has been run by the Watson family since 1963, first by John Watson and then his son Steve. The company has been taken over by two entrepreneurs David Howard and Paul McDowell.

David Howard brings a background in sales and marketing with US and UK companies to the new venture. Paul McDowell can draw on nearly 20 years experience of the UK heating and ventilation market. Former MD Steve Watson is staying on to help with design and project management.

David Howard commented: "Having nine fully qualified heating and plumbing engineers together with the design expertise of Steve Watson, we are able to anything from change a tap washer or plumb a kitchen or bathroom to design a complex, energy efficient heating system.

Looking to the future Mr Howard said: "We are eager to hold onto the values that make the company successful, namely its value for money and quality of service, whilst at the same time developing the goods and services we offer, to a broader range of clients."
