An air commuter stole thousands of pounds worth of property from shops at Stansted Airport while he was waiting for flights.
A court heard how Alan Crake stole perfume, cameras and other items from shops as he was waiting for flights home to Newcastle.
Over a year, he stole more than £6,500 worth of property and Chelmsford Crown Court also heard how most of it was found at his home.
Included in the haul were 101 bottles of perfume, 58 packets of razor blades and 168 memory cards.
Crake, 35, of, Easlingham, Co Durham, admitted three theft charges and one of going equipped for theft with a Stanley knife blade when he appeared in court for sentence.
He also asked for another theft from the Alpha shop at Newcastle Airport to be considered. He was given a 12-month supervision order, a 40-hour unpaid work order and told to pay £500 compensation to the World duty free shop at Stansted and £578 costs.
Robert Mandell, prosecuting, said Crake's shoplifting came to light on April 20 when he was arrested at Stansted after stealing items from the World duty free shop.
Crake was working as a painter and decorator and commuted by air from Newcastle to Stansted. It was while waiting for flights that he found it difficult to resist visiting shops and stealing, the court heard.
