TONGUES were planted firmly in cheeks when planning officials put together plans for the new "Bas Vegas" bus link.
County council planners have submitted the plans to Basildon Council for the long-awaited scheme that links the town centre with Festival Leisure Park - complete with drawings of buses cheekily displaying "Bas Vegas Bus" slogans. They also revealed the route will cost £328,000 to put into place.
The proposals will see a new bus and taxi-only road built to link Ghyllgrove and the town centre with Cranes Farm Road and the Festival Leisure Park, which has attracted the colloquial name "Bas Vegas".
If given the go-ahead the link will end the park's seven-year wait for a bus service.
