Super sleuths scooped a prestigious prize on the BBC radio show the Naked Scientists.
The group, from Billericay School, had to identify the owner of a pair of smelly socks using forensic tests when they appeared on this week's show.
The Naked Scientists, a group of physicists, chemists and biologists from Cambridge University, is broadcast every week across the East of England.
The youngsters were given five possible suspects and, using DNA recognition equipment, discovered the socks' true owner before any of the five other schools taking part. To reward them for their win, the school was presented with its own DNA extraction kit.
