Aveley 1, Barton Rovers 0
Aveley continued their recent good form with a hard fought win at Mill Field against an in-form Barton Rovers moving themselves up to 17th in the table.
And the victory was all the sweeter for caretaker boss Keith Day who has supervised the rise from the bottom of the table since the departure of Amin Levitt as it was achieved with a depleted side.
Regulars Danny Curran and Kevin Marsden were out through injury and striker Tommy Lee through suspension.
The game proved to be a tale of two Barnes.
Barton's Paul Barnes is one of the Southern League Division One East's high scorers and he proved a threat all afternoon, most notably with a first half one-on-one in which keeper Marc Palmer came out on top.
Millers did create their own chances, coming closest through Hasan Kardal who had a shot deflected and header saved.
However, the crucial point in the game came on 59 minutes when Aveley's Bradley Barnes got on the end of a cross from Kardal to nothc what proved to be the winner.
