The director's box will no doubt once again contain a number of scouts from Premiership and Coca-Cola Championship clubs as the U's bid to go second in the League One table with victory over Bristol City at Layer Road tonight.
However, Neil Danns - one of the U's players believed to be catching the eye of a number of teams - thinks that a brighter future beckons at Colchester rather than with another club at present.
"Every player wants to progress, but who is to say that can't be with Colchester United," said the former Blackburn Rovers man Danns.
"Promotion to the Championship and the next level is not a dream any more for us. We are fourth in the table and closing in on the top teams.
"Who is to say I can't reach the next level with Colchester United?"
