CHILDREN were treated to a special story time by parents in Mistley.
Parents and grandparents spent eight weeks creating puppets, play mats and games to illustrate stories for classes at Mistley Norman Primary School.
The children also helped put the final touches to the creations.
Headteacher Stephen Burnup said: “It was a very successful day.
“The parents were able to show off their creations to the whole school in the morning before choosing a class to tell their story to in the afternoon.
“Books such as Scooby Doo, Down on the Farm and Owl Babies were all sources of inspiration.
“They put a tremendous amount of effort and work into their creations and the kids really enjoyed it.
“Parents and grandparents have been coming into the school one hour a week for the past eight weeks and some of the children have been helping them too.”
The school has held four similar events in the past based around maths and literacy.
This was the first one focused on arts and crafts.
Mr Burnup said: “It’s a great way of bringing stories to life.
“No doubt we will be doing something similar in the future.”
