It was with some amazement that I read the letter from Berechurch’s Lib Dem candidate, Colin Mudie, about the reorganisation of Colchester’s secondary schools (Letters, March 31).
Not only is the letter a distortion of the real facts of the matter, but it does nothing but add to the continued misinformation and misrepresentation Colchester Lib Dems seem to foist upon the people of Berechurch.
This is quite rightly demonstrated by their Uturns and shifting positions on the reorganisation, which were highly publicised in this newspaper.
Labour’s candidate in Berechurch, Chris Pearson, has been supporting the long-standing campaign to retain secondary education provision in south Colchester, something both I and our local Labour councillors continue to lobby for at all levels.
Unlike the Lib Dems, Colchester Labour Party has never altered its position on this issue.
I am committed to securing the future educational needs of all the young people in Colchester.
It is the future of the young people and families of south Colchester, not his own political career, that Mr Mudie should be concerned with.
