A CHILDREN’S entertainer confronted burglars who broke into a football club’s garages.
Have-a-go-hero Lee Hayward, who is also known as Bubbles the clown, was dragged along as he clung on to the getaway car.
The raiders, who got away, had threatened to stab his 16-year-old brother-in-law, Jackson White, when the pair disturbed the break-in at Marks Tey Football Club.
Sue Dyer, club spokeswoman, said: “Lee was fantastic. He put himself at risk to protect what was on the site.”
Mr Hayward, 30, who had brought his Giggle City fairground to Marks Tey, said: “In retrospect, maybe I shouldn’t have gone quite so far, in case they had a weapon.”
