MORE than 50 businesses have signed up to a unique partnership with Colchester United.
In a bid to reward loyal fans, people who buy season tickets will receive a book of money-saving deals from local firms.
U’s owner Robbie Cowling said: “The idea is that people will be able to effectively get their season tickets for free by using the vouchers to get money off with local firms.
“It is a no-lose situation – fans benefit, the companies involved benefit from getting business from our fans.
“The club make no money whatsoever directly from the scheme, despite the fact we will do all the work to get the voucher booklet produced.
“We know these are difficult economic times for many people and we believe the scheme can only help people.
“For example, when people buy a season ticket, they will get money-off vouchers for everything from dining out to having their car serviced.”
The club have launched a number of season ticket packages, for a quarter, half or the whole season, with a variety of special offers associated with each.
They also have a number of concessions for the young, elderly and the armed forces.
Club spokesman Matt Hudson said: “Season ticket sales have been going reasonably well so far, despite our recent poor form, and we are particularly pleased at the number of new fans who have bought season tickets, as well as those who have already renewed.”
