ROLL up, roll up – it’s the Big Lick’s second birthday and what better way to mark this special occasion for the alternative night, than a Circus of Horrors-style party.
Last month’s club night was a massive success with special guest DJ Jon Morter, the man behind Rage Against the Machine’s Christmas number one, who is also trying to save BBC 6 Music from being axed.
But next Saturday, May 1, organisers are hoping for something bigger, when they celebrate two years of playing the biggest metal, rock and alternative sounds. There’s plenty going on throughout the night with resident DJs Yoshi (Josh Edwards) and Griz (Jay Binstead) spinning the tunes, plus guest DJs, fancy dress, freaky burlesque girls and the Ringmaster, aka Big Lick organiser, Davina Serle.
She says: “It’s halfway to Halloween. We are putting on a suitable event to celebrate this success, while giving customers a chance to dress up in their freakish best and have a good mosh!”
There is also the element of the fair, with a free tombola, and a massive array of themed prizes for the first 300 who enter the club.
There will also be a firebreather to help set off the night in style and local photographers to snap the atmosphere.
Held on the first Saturday of every month, the Big Lick’s metal/rock/alternative club night takes place at the Sky Rooms, High Street, Colchester, from 9.30pm to 3am, with admission priced at £5.
