MORE than 500 people enjoyed a charity fun day in Colchester, organised by Essex Police.
The event, at Alderman Blaxill School, was put together by PC Jane Watts and police community support officer Kate Ward. It raised more than £200 for Help for Heroes and Autism Anglia.
The purpose of the day was to bring together the civilian and Army communities that live side-by-side on the St Michael’s estate.
Activities included an Army assault course, a bouncy castle, a gymnastic display and pony rides. There were also exhibits supplied by Essex Police Museum.
PCSO Ward said: “It was a fantastic day and we’re delighted so many local residents turned out.
“We organised the event to try to bring together the civilian and Army communities on the estate, because they are quite separate.
“This was a fun and informal way of doing that, and we’re pleased about the money we raised for charity.”
