A MUM says she is “living in fear” of yobs who pelt her home with eggs and paint.
In the past few months, everything from beer cans to items of clothing have been hurled at the front door and walls of Pauline Simmons, who lives in Cyril Child Close, Greenstead.
One vandal has thrown a bottle into her property through an open window, and on Sunday, a gang of youths aimed a can of beans at a cat sitting outside. Mrs Simmons now takes safety precautions every time she leaves the house.
Mrs Simmons, who is in her early forties, lives with her three sons – DJ, two, and twins Shawn and Scott, four, plus her daughter Hayley, 16, who has a three-month-old son, Liam. She said: “It is frightening and threatening, and has been happening all the time for the past couple of months, or longer.
“I am sick and tired – the police are getting involved but it is usually a couple of days before they can come to see us. I am worried it will get worse and something really serious will happen.
“I have an idea who is doing it but I don’t know why, because I have never had any arguments with anyone. I just keep myself to myself.”
PC Spencer Keeble, Greenstead neighbourhood specialist officer, said: “It’s unacceptable residents should have to put up with incidents like this. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the area.”
