COLCHESTER'S new academy school has opened its doors.
Incoming headteacher Barry Hersom oversaw his first assemblies today at Colchester Academy, formerly Sir Charles Lucas Arts College.
He set out his stall by telling youngsters he expects them all to enter and pass exams in every GCSE course they enroll on.
And he told the Gazette a longer school day would be key to his plan to push up grades and ensure every final-year pupil either goes into further education or gets a job.
