It was nice to see so many people at the Cenotaph in Maldon on Remembrance Sunday.
I have been going up there most years since I was first a Cub and then an Army Cadet.
I can remember when all of the parade used to march down the town to the service.
My father, having served in the war, always reminded us we should never forget what had happened.
I realise the Second World War veterans can no longer march in the parade, but it would be nice if everyone else could make the effort.
The one thing I disagree with is that the parade is stood there for more than half an hour (including quite a few youngsters), then at 20 minutes to 11am the mayor and his party appear from the Moot Hall to take up their place at the front of the parade.
I think they should be stood there with everyone else as they are certainly no more important than anyone else!
