THE father of a young teacher killed by a drunk driver has appealed to motorists not to drink and drive this Christmas.

Sarah Lee, of Bergholt Road, Colchester, died when a white Audi crossed the road and crashed into her blue Ford Focus on a country lane outside Stutton, near Branthem.

The Audi driver, Matthew Anderson, 24, from Holbrook, Suffolk, was also killed. He was two and a half times over the legal drink drive limit and was driving around a corner at between 60 and 80mph when he crossed the toad into her path on December 5 last year.

Sarah's father David Lee, of Woodbridge, Suffolk, has joined forces with Suffolk Police to help launch its annual drink-drive campaign.

Mr Lee said: “I had a beautiful, 24-year-old daughter, who in the tun up to Christmas last year was the innocent victim of a drink driver.

“You try not to feel bitter about it, but the situation was utterly avoidable.

“I want to so what I can to stop that sort of situation from happening again.”

Chief Insp Andy Dawson, of Suffolk Police, said that as part of last year's drink-driving campaign saw 95 motorists over the limit, from 1,416 breath tests.
