In response to the article on my expenses (Gazette, December 3), it is usual for employers to provide soap, toilet rolls, etc, for their employees.
I assume this applies to offices used by journalists on the Colchester Gazette.
You reported, critically, that I had spent £82.13p on toilet rolls for my constituency office.
But you did it without explaining (a) such a bulk purchase for at least a year was cheaper on the public purse, less than half the price in the central purchasing catalogue issued to MPs, and (b) I had bought them from charity “Operation Looroll” in support of its fundraising for the Starlight Children Foundation.
Others who may wish to take advantage of this excellent, cost-effective scheme, and raise money for good causes, can order from the charity by calling 0800 1695715.
