Regarding the letter “upside down Union Flag”, I’m not sure about the “incorrect use” of this, as the flag isn’t actually flying, but apparently pinned up!

The hoist tape is to the left of the flag, but just upside down.

The flag would presumably have the eye and toggle to attach to the hoist, whereupon it would have been flown correctly.

However, the Australian flag is the correct way round and the Union Flag is correctly positioned at the hoist. The military gentlemen who displayed these flags could have checked that they had the correct orientation. If they had earlier in their lives been to Beavers, Cubs or Scouts, they wouldn’t have made this blunder!
