MORE than 100 affordable homes have been provided in Colchester in recent months.
A Colchester Council meeting next week will discuss a report which reveals 119 new affordable homes have been built or converted since April this year.
A further 300 council homes have also been brought up to the government's Decent Homes standard, while the number of households in temporary accommodation has also been reduced.
Tim Young, councillor responsible for housing and community safety, said: “Despite the difficult economic climate a further 70 affordable homes have been delivered in the last quarter through our successful partnership with housing associations and the Homes and Communities Agency.
“We are committed to delivering homes that Colchester residents and their families can afford and which will allow them to stay in this area and have the opportunity to find jobs and prosper.”
