YOUNG film-makers have won gold in their Olympic bid.
The teenagers from Colchester scooped the best documentary prize in a national search for films to be screened at London 2012.
It means their work, entitled Phoenix, will be shown at Olympic venues around the country during the games.
Liam Cooke, Rhys Quilter, Ryan Bygrave, Connor Fletcher, Jack Copping, Maggie Hargraves, Mark Holmes and Natalia Sanchez-Jinks picked up the award in the best documentary or experimental category for 14 to 16 year olds in the Film Nation’s Shorts competition.
The film charts young people from Colchester Phoenix Amateur Swimming Club who have overcome their disabilities to regularly compete around the world in regional and national swimming competitions.
It was made with the help of Signals Media Arts Centre, based in St Runwald Street, which oversaw four entries into the awards, three of which were shortlisted.
