A JUDGE reprimanding two soldiers for a drunken brawl told them to stick to fighting for their country rather than fighting in the streets.

Serving soldiers, Tommy Tucker and Hal Stewart, were on a two-week break from a tour of Afghanistan when they were arrested for fighting other men in Colchester town centre on Friday, January 21.

Appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday, the men, stationed at Merville Barracks, admitted using threatening behaviour.

David Bryant, prosecuting, said: “Police were called to a disturbance in the High Street and discovered a male kicking another male to the ground.

District Judge David Cooper ordered the men to each pay £500 compensation to their victims, £60 costs and a £15 surcharge.
