For a long time we have got used to cyclists riding on our footpaths and, as a very old Colcestrian, I am very worried.
As both Essex and Colchester councils approve and back this, I have a question: If a pedestrian is injured by a cyclist, who does he/she sue?
Cyclists do not need insurance, so who is responsible for this claim?
I hope both councils have considered this as it could be a costly outcome, which must not be put on our taxes.

...I thought Crouch Street was one way.
Surely cyclists are not being advised to break the law and go the wrong way down the one-way street?
If so, pedestrians will not be expecting traffic from that direction, so that is encouraging accidents to happen.
