JAM-MAKERS have given £1,000 to the Parachute Regiment Afghanistan Trust.
Tim Came, managing director of Tiptree-based Thursday Cottage, visited Merville Barracks, the home of 2nd and 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, to hand over the money.
The cash will go to helping soldiers and their families who are coping with serious injuries and trauma.
Soldiers from 2 Para and Carolyn Harrison, wife of 2 Para’s commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Harrison, attended the cheque presentation.
Craig Treeby, the charity’s chief executive officer, said: “This is very important.
“The regiment has been here 11 years, having previously been in Aldershot, and it is hard to get full recognition locally, so things like this are very important.
“When you’re facing a lifetime dealing with injuries, it is important to know there is support out there for them and their families, so we are extremely pleased with this donation from Thursday Cottage.”
