A COLCHESTER dance sensation is preparing for a live TV semi-final which could see him and his partner move a step closer to winning a £250,000 cash prize.

Chris Childs, aka Crazy Popper, will be performing alongside Adam Cardowan on this weekend’s third semi-final of Sky show, Got To Dance.

The duo were paired together by the show’s bosses to become Liquid Metallic, and they will compete with six other acts for a place in the final later this month.

Chris, 23, a warehouse worker, of Chaplin Drive, Colchester, is known as a “body popper” and, despite never having a dance lesson, has made a big impression on the talent show’s three judges.

He said: “The whole experience has been amazing. It has given me so much confidence, and just knowing Adam and I have inspired others to dance is a great feeling.

“I have felt nervous, but now it is getting close I just feel excited about it. We just want to do what we do best and show people what we can do.

“Everyone has been so supportive. There have been posters put up in shop windows around Colchester. It is great to know my home town is behind me.”

After being put together as a duo, Adam’s and Chris’s dads discovered they had served in regiments next to each other in the Army.

The pair have also found out that despite Adam living in Scotland and Chris in Essex, they share mutual friends.

Liquid Metallic can be seen on Got To Dance, SKY1 HD and SKY 1, on Sunday at 6pm.

Two acts will be selected for the final on viewers’ votes.
