A YUMMY mummy has gone head to head with her daughter in a TV show to decide who most needs a makeover.

Self-confessed party animal Susie Sue Hollanders admits she had her reservations when she was contacted by Hotter Than My Daughter show producers.

Having seen the show, where glamorous mums claim to be “hotter” than their daughters, she told producers she did not want to appear.

But the show’s bosses, who had spotted Ms Hollanders on Facebook, talked her round.

Then Ms Hollanders, 40, had to convince daughter Ellysha Stephens, 23, to take part.

Ms Hollander said: “When the show first got in touch I just thought, no way.

“I’d seen the show before and it was all about women wearing mini-skirts and I don’t dress like that at all.

“I usually dress down and before the show I never had the confidence to dress up or wear high-heeled shoes.

“My daughter has always said it would be nice to see me dressed up and I have always thought I’d like to see her in more funky gear, so we agreed to do it just as a bit of fun.

“I don’t take myself too seriously and I’m more than happy to laugh at myself and I don’t mind if other people do, too.

“The show gave us both a makeover to give us a different look and it will probably make pretty good viewing because when I turn around and look in the mirror I am just completely shocked and say how terrible I look.”

Ms Hollanders, a self-employed hairdresser of Canterbury Road, Colchester, has a rock-chick style, adorned with tattoos.

She says she likes to dress in an alternative but laid-back style. On the show, she admits she would like to see her girlie daughter adopt a similar style, while Ellysha says she would love to see her mum wear more dressed up and feminine clothes.

Miss Stephens, who is given long black and purple hair extensions in the show, said: “Me and Mum couldn’t really be any closer than we already are, so there was no tension or anything like that between us.

“She had to say she was ‘hotter’ than me as part of the show, so I don’t hold it against her. We both had great fun doing it.”

Film crews, including the show’s presenter, ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon, spent two days in Colchester shooting the show, due to air on BBC3 on March 1.
