LABOUR politician Tim Young is set to swap the Town Hall chamber for a comedy club stage.

Mr Young and comedy partner Dave Hughes have been given 15 minutes to perform sketches in the style of TV’s Armstrong & Miller - at Wivenhoe’s Funny Farm on Thursday.

Mr Young said: “I write as a hobby and have been working with Dave on sketches for about 18 months.

“Someone suggested they were good and why didn’t we perform them?”

They contacted Funny Farm organiser Hazel Humphreys, who was happy to give them a slot to see what the audience makes of their askew look at life.

Mr Young, leader of the Labour group on Colchester Council, added: “One of the sketches is politics-based.

“We’ve been rehearsing in our spare time and the performance is coming along very well.

“We’re confident in the material and we’re confident we know the script.”

People can pay £6.50 on the door at Wivenhoe Town Cricket Club Pavillion in Rectory Road or reserve seats at wivenhoefunnyfarm.co.uk The show starts at 8pm.
