VANDALS have caused hundreds of pounds of damage after smashing windows at Colchester's historic clock museum.

Two ground floor leaded pane windows at Tymperleys Clock Museum, in Trinity Street, were smashed during the incident.

It is not yet known how much the damage will cost to repair, but the windows will have to be restored by a specialist as they are part of the Grade II listed house, which belonged to pioneering 15th-century physicist William Gilberd.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened between Friday night and Monday morning, is asked to call Colchester police on 0300 333 4444.
