STUDENTS endured a sleepless night sleeping rough on their campus to raise awareness of the struggles faced by asylum seekers.

Around 14 Essex University students slept out at the Wivenhoe Park campus on Tuesday night to illustrate the plight faced by an estimated 11,000 asylum seekers.

Essex University students were the first in the country to hold a sleep out as part of the campaign.
