A CAMPAIGN has been launched against plans to paint double yellow lines near playing fields in Colchester.

Essex County Council wants to restrict parking in Circular Road East, near Abbey Fields. Mum-of-two Amanda Cook says it will stop her from accessing the fields and collecting her two children from St John’s Green Primary School.

Her children, Hollie Hunt, eight, and Jake Hunt, four, have made a poster asking the council: “Where can we park now?

Ms Cook, of Abbot’s Road, Colchester, said: “I live too far to walk to the school, but I still want to make sure my children get daily exercise, so I have been parking the car there and walking to the school.

“I also park there at weekends or in the school holidays to take the children to the play park, as we don’t have one nearby.

“I really don’t understand why they need to stop people parking there because it is not near any homes.

“I don’t want to start parking at the school because there is already a major parking problem around there, but now I don’t have many options left.”

Mrs Cook has urged anyone who has objections to the plans to e-mail her on hiamandac@virginmedia.com Essex County Council was unavailable for comment.
