A PROTEST to highlight concerns over tax avoidance and profits made by banks has been held in Colchester.
About 20 people joined the protest, organised by the Colchester branch of UK Uncut Action, on Saturday.
The protest, advertised on Facebook, saw campaigners target High Street banks and clothes stores.
Harry Edwards, from the group, said: “We wanted to bring awareness about the problem of tax avoidance and the way the banking bonuses system is unfair.
“Our argument is that if the Government made these banks and businesses pay their fair share in taxes, we wouldn’t have to see so many cuts.”
The protesters asked members of the public to sign a petition and handed out leaflets in banks and stores.
