TRAFFIC lights at the junction of Military Road and Magdalen Street, Colchester, have been out of action since a crash a week ago.

Colchester MP Bob Russell said: “Essex County Council’s failure to have the lights restored has moved from incompetence to one bordering on dereliction of duty.’’ A council spokesman said: “An accident on February 21 caused significant damage.

“A replacement signal controller has been installed and a new electrical feeder pillar has been ordered.

“The signals will be switched on as soon as the new parts are in place.”
