POLICE descended on New Town to reports of a man wielding a gun in what was believed to have been a hoax.
Armed police were called to the Military Road area at around 3.20pm yesterday afternoon following allegations of a domestic incident involving a gun.
But the officers, and the helicopter circling overhead, were called off at 4.50pm.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wasting police time.
