COLCHESTER Carnival has been given a massive boost after Weston Homes stepped forward to be the main event sponsor.
The company, sponsor of the home of Colchester United, will cover the expenses of staging the carnival so more money can go to good causes.
Bob Weston, chairman and chief executive of Weston Homes, said: “We’re really proud of our record in the community, and the carnival is another opportunity for us to be part of local life and to show our support for the town.
“I’m glad we can play our part in making the event a vibrant, colourful celebration of Colchester, and help raise money for local charities.”
Dan Woodruff, carnival secretary, added: “We’re so grateful to Weston Homes and proud to have the company associated with the event. Its commitment essentially covers the expenses, so it really maximises the amount we can raise for charity.”
Entry into the carnival, on July 16, is free for non-profit organisations, community groups and schools, and local businesses can also be part of the procession for a fee of £100.
There are also sponsorship packages starting at £250.
The Round Table, which is organising the event, is aiming for all profits to go back to the community.
Anyone wanting to take part should visit the carnival’s official website – colchestercarnival.com – to download a procession entry pack, trade stand pack or sponsor pack.
